The US Capital team is led by experienced professionals with years of investment banking, financial advisory, operational, and direct lending experience.
Jeffrey Sweeney – CEO and Managing Director
Mr. Sweeney has a strong entrepreneurial approach, which he has applied in the investment banking and equipment leasing arena for nearly 15 years. He has extensive operational knowledge and experience in manufacturing, finance, machine tools, and equipment leasing—all gained as both a consumer of machine tools and later as a principal of a large machine tool leasing company, Global Finance Group.
In 1998, Mr. Sweeney purchased the assets of US Capital Corporation, a $5 million equipment leasing company. Changing the focus of the company to structured asset-based lending and investment banking, Mr. Sweeney grew the business to over $500 million in annual originations. In addition to his own capital, he has amassed a multi-million dollar private equity fund and an extensive outside network of participants for funding deals. US Capital both syndicates and provides asset-backed loans for business acquisitions, working capital, equipment leases, recapitalizations, and commercial real estate transactions. From 1979 until its sale in the mid-1990s, Mr. Sweeney served as a principal and CEO of Machine Works Corporation, a lower middle-market aerospace manufacturing company.
Mr. Sweeney graduated from the University of California, Santa Barbara with a bachelor's degree in Business Economics. An avid sailor, world traveler, and certified yoga instructor, Mr. Sweeney is currently treasurer and board member of several international non-profit organizations providing educational services to children and young adults. Mr. Sweeney is active in the southern California and San Francisco chapters of ACG, TMA, CFA, and other financial organizations.
Saif Mansour – Managing Director
Mr. Mansour is a highly accomplished specialist in growth capital investment strategy, fund management, and portfolio management. He is the Managing Partner of Breakwater Investment Management, LLC, a private investment management firm that provides direct lending for US Capital through its limited partnership fund, the Breakwater Structured Growth Opportunities Fund. Mr. Mansour is responsible for origination, structure, execution, and oversight of the Fund's investment portfolio. Mr. Mansour also advises and serves on the Board of Directors of several growth companies.
Prior to joining the US Capital team, Mr. Mansour served as Vice President of Sunset Holdings, LLC, a private investment firm, and as Strategy Consultant to the Office of the President at Union Bank of California, where he focused on market and financial analysis relating to mergers and acquisitions. Mr. Mansour began his career in the venture capital industry, serving as an analyst for The Avram Miller Company and Baystar Capital, a $300-million San Francisco-based hedge fund.
Charles V. Towle – Director
Mr. Towle is a corporate debt financial strategist and structured funding expert. He is responsible at US Capital for the company's nationwide business development program, its lender affiliation and development, and its underwriting process. He acts as a support to US Capital's Credit Committee in its decision-making process. Prior to joining the US Capital team, Mr. Towle was an operations director and global finance consultant for a private international asset management company.
Jack Lieberman – Vice President
Mr. Lieberman's responsibilities at US Capital include business development, management of client relationships, and underwriting. Before joining US Capital, Mr. Lieberman was a Vice President with Fordham Financial Services, a Chicago asset-based lender. Prior to his career in finance, Mr. Lieberman managed medical practices in California and Illinois for fifteen years. He also practiced law in California and Illinois for ten years as a litigator in government and the private sector.
Svetlana Murphy – Senior Analyst
Svetlana Murphy brings to US Capital over a decade of work experience in the fields of international telecommunication, software company management, and public accounting at Deloitte and Touche. She graduated from Henry B. Tippie College of Business at the University of Iowa with High Distinction, having received several prestigious academic awards and acknowledgements.
Marcus Haas – Legal and Commercial Copywriter
Marcus Haas combines extensive cross-jurisdictional legal and commercial expertise with ten years of experience in commercial copywriting. Prior to joining US Capital, Mr. Haas was Head of Legals and Due Diligence at Ready2invest Limited, a leading UK real estate brokering and development firm. He has had significant exposure to syndicated investment deals, SPVs located offshore, and regulated expert funds. He graduated from the University of Cambridge (MA in Law).
